Snooker night finals

On December 12th 2012 the snooker finals were staged.
Four finals were contested (The Summer League h/c, The singles & doubles h/c’s, & The “scratch” Club Championship), with the prize presentation given by our club president Nathan Freeman.
A father and son dominated the finals night, with mixed fortunes. Tony Roberts contested the singles and doubles h/c finals, and his son Arron contested the Summer League h/c final.
Arron Roberts defeated Stuart Madden, with both players showing why they came through a tough league programme to contest the final, and in the process showed their vast improvement over the year in an entertaining match.
The doubles h/c saw past winners Noele Slater and Martin Cox emerge the victors after a tense deciding frame against Tony Roberts and his partner Clive Bicknell.
Tony then came up against Paul Geary in the singles h/c, and although taking Paul to a deciding frame, breaks of 44 and 50 by Paul proved just too much, and Tony again had to settle for second place.
Darren Berry (last year’s club champion) again contested the final, but couldn’t produce the form of last year that won him the final, and was soundly beaten by the ever youthful Peter Benton.
Congratulations to all the finalists.
A big thank you to the official referees Rob Ellis and Bernard Ross, and to everyone else who gave their time to enable the night to run so smoothly.
